Opening Narrative
In this website, the evidence I provide will reflect that I have met the NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards) Standards. I hope that through reviewing my portfolio you will see the passion and joy I have for teaching students mathematics.
In my graduate program, I have worked with students from various backgrounds who all have unique needs. Through differentiated instructional plans, collaboration with special education teachers, and connecting concepts to relatable experiences, I will show that I am committed to all students and their teaching. I will show evidence of my content knowledge. Beyond my mathematics degree, I have received high scores on all required exams, and I design lessons that provide students with meaningful learning experiences. These show that I know the subjects and how to teach those subjects to students. I have also included evidence of my assessment strategies, both formal and informal. I provide students with a considerable amount of feedback and use data from assessments to design instruction that best fits my students’ needs. This evidence will show that I am responsible for managing and monitoring student learning. Every piece of evidence I provide in this portfolio includes a reflection on my experiences. I review every lesson plan that I have implemented and make note of how I can improve upon it in the future. I recognize that the teaching profession always leaves room for improvement. These reflections will show that I think systematically about my practice and learn from my experiences. Finally, I will provide evidence of my collaborative efforts with members of my teaching communities, both in and out of the classroom. I have worked with multiple special education teachers in the planning and instructional stages of teaching and have attended numerous professional development sessions. This will show that I am a member of learning communities. |
